Majority of units sold during busy launch of Salt Rock City development
Construction is expected to begin later this year with the first homes complete within 12 months of ground breaking.
More than half of the available units at Salt Rock City were sold within the first two hours of its public launch last Saturday – a strong indication of high market demand for the R1.3-billion North Coast development.
The launch, held at Donna’s Modern Italian in Salt Rock, drew sizeable interest, with some buyers arriving as early as 4.30am to secure a place in the family estate.

“By the end of the launch weekend, 108 units had been sold,” said Brad Winstanley, commercial director at Devmco Group.
“In addition, all of our available developer opportunities were sold to partner developers, which means that by the end of the day, 75% of the total opportunities were sold.”
Salt Rock City is the latest project from the Devmco Group (developers of OceanDune Sibaya and Umhlanga Arch), developed in partnership with New Salt Rock City (Pty) Ltd, which also developed the Salt Rock City Shopping Centre and Dolphin Ridge Estate. The development includes 188 freehold and 189 sectional title units, with land prices ranging from R950 000 to R1.35-million. Completed homes, including land, are priced between R3.5-million and R4.5-million.

Buyers can choose between single-storey or split-level homes, all featuring undercover parking or double garages, open-plan living areas and outdoor entertainment spaces. Future estate amenities will include a clubhouse, padel courts, swimming pool with water slides, braai areas and children’s facilities. Nature trails will also be created in the preserved forested areas.
“This first phase is very competitively priced, which is why we’ve seen such strong demand,” said Winstanley.
“Salt Rock City will offer a community-focused, family-oriented lifestyle with access to retail, education and healthcare infrastructure.”

The land was originally developed by Fantasy Construction CC in 2006 under the name of Mount Richmore and was later acquired by New Salt Rock City in 2010. Curro Salt Rock School (formerly Curro Mount Richmore) launched inside the estate in January 2014. The New Salt Rock City shopping centre was completed in 2018, from which time development went quiet until Devmco secured development rights in October last year, beginning with a rebrand of the estate as Salt Rock City.
Infrastructure construction is expected to begin in the second half of 2025. The first homes are projected to be completed within 12 months of breaking ground.
