Residents dig in to clean Ballito coastline during 5km beach walk

A group of schoolkids joined in on the fun, earning community service hours for their work.

The Restore Africa Foundation hosted a lively 5km fun walk and beach clean-up on Saturday, attracting families and environmental enthusiasts to the Ballito coastline.

Participants set off from Willard Beach and walked to Salmon Bay, collecting litter along the way.

Officially called the Spring Tide Community Social, the event encouraged residents to bring their children to enjoy a morning outdoors while helping protect the natural coastal environment. It aimed to raise awareness about marine pollution and showcase the work of local non-profit organisations committed to environmental care.

School pupils also used the opportunity to complete their community service hours.
