Disco dancing and determined support at Ballito Cancer Tea
Ladies enjoyed dancing along to booming ABBA hits while raising funds for a good cause.
Cancer survivors and those touched by the disease united for a colourful celebration of unity at the Ballito Cancer Tea on Saturday.
Hosted at the Lyric Lounge Theatre, the event drew around 100 women to join hands, raise funds for charity and sway along to booming ABBA hits sung by Lisa van Dyk. The tea raised R15 000 for Reach for Recovery, an NPO run by breast cancer survivors which offers free mammograms, awareness talks, post-surgery recovery packs and prosthesis fittings.

Lorna Mawer and Jenny Aitken of Reach for Recovery thanked the Ballito community for their ongoing support during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Event organiser Lisa Roberts hopes the Ballito Cancer Tea will become an annual calendar highlight.
“We’d love to see even more local businesses join us next year so we can make an even bigger difference for those fighting cancer,” she said.
Adding a healthy twist to the day, Mediclinic Victoria and IPSS Medical Rescue were also on-site offering free blood pressure and glucose checks.
