Brettenwood pilates session raises funds for breast cancer awareness

Ladies on the estate got together in support of the I Love Boobies non-profit.

Brettenwood residents recently rolled out their mats for a vibrant pilates session in honour of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Hosted by the estate homeowners’ association on October 25, the event raised funds for I Love Boobies, a non-profit organisation dedicated to educating women about breast health and providing free screenings in under-resourced communities.

The morning featured a 45-minute Pilates session led by Lol from TashB, followed by a light breakfast and goodie bags. Residents of all fitness levels were encouraged to participate.

Since its inception, I Love Boobies has screened over 14 000 women, referring 593 for further medical care. In October alone, 680 women were examined, with 41 referred for follow-up checks – highlighting the ongoing need for early detection and awareness.

“This initiative was about more than just fitness; it was about community, compassion and making a tangible difference,” said Brettenwood marketing and events manager, Samantha Subban.

“By coming together, our residents helped empower women with access to life-saving education and screenings.”
