Authors, poets and readers gather for monthly book club at Ekhaya Guest House

The book club, hosted by Richard Finch meets on the third Sunday of each month at Ekhaya Guest House.

Local authors, aspiring writers and book enthusiasts gathered for an afternoon of literature, cheese and wine tasting and conversation at Ekhaya Guest House on Sunday.

The Ballito Book Readers Club meeting featured a diverse programme of readings, showcasing both established and emerging talent. Poetry by Maseeha Kolia, extracts from Arundhati Roy’s Mother Mary Comes to Me and a monologue from Shakespeare’s The Winter’s Tale, performed by Jane Ross, delighted attendees.

Kolia, who was attending the club meeting for the first time, said that despite her initial nerves, she found a warm and welcoming audience.

“The members welcomed me with open arms,” she said, adding that she is excited about her upcoming book launch next year.

The book club, hosted by Richard Finch on the third Sunday of each month at Ekhaya Guest House, provides a platform for the local literary community to share their work and connect with fellow book lovers.
