Feeling nostalgic? New exhibition at The Gallery will take you back

"Nostalgia" will run from December 4 until February next year.

The Gallery is closing out the year on a sentimental note with its new summer exhibition, Nostalgia.

Launching on Thursday, December 4 at 5.30pm as part of First Thursdays at The Studios, the exhibition invites you to reflect on the festive season and the comfort it brings, from the smell of your childhood kitchen to the half-remembered fragments of long-lost holidays and time spent with family. These small, sensory memories linger long after the moments have passed.

This piece from Asiphile Luthuli will be on display.

For the artists on show, nostalgia becomes a bridge. Through painting, drawing, sculpture and mixed media, they sift through fragments of lived experience – exploring how memory shapes identity, belonging and the stories we carry.

For viewers, the artworks act as mirrors, stirring personal recollections and offering quiet moments of recognition. Nostalgia reminds us that art can be its own form of time travel.

The opening event will feature live music by Quiet Storm, a bubbly tasting curated by Lifestyle TOPS and a festive selection of food and drinks available for purchase.

Jane Alexander is among the exhibiting artists.

The exhibition will run until February 1.

The Gallery is open daily from 9am to 5pm. For more information, contact 072 245 8691 or email info@thegalleryballito.co.za.
