No threat found after bomb scare at Tongaat’s Victoria Hospital

The hospital was placed on precautionary lockdown but has since reopened.

Mediclinic Victoria Hospital in Tongaat has been declared safe by police teams after a bomb scare placed the hospital on lockdown this morning.

According to a Mediclinic spokesperson, the hospital received a call reporting a possible bomb threat, after which police were notified and disaster management protocols were activated.

“No evacuation was required, and Saps has since given all clear. The hospital continues to operate as normal,” said the spokesperson.

Tongaat SAPS spokesperson Captain Jasanathan Naidoo confirmed the incident.

“No bomb was found, there were no injuries and the hospital is safe,” he said.
