The good news is that it’s also the season for litchis, watermelon and all the refreshing summer fruit that helps us cope with rising temperatures, signalling that December holidays have arrived.

As the year draws to a close and many of us juggle last-minute work deadlines and a calendar full of year-end functions, it’s normal to feel a little worn out. While rest is essential, the way we nourish ourselves can also make a meaningful difference in easing fatigue and helping us enter the new year feeling refreshed.

Choose meals that support steady energy
Busy days often tempt us to skip meals or grab something sugary. Instead, aim for balanced meals with protein, whole grains, colourful vegetables and healthy fats. These stabilise your blood sugar and prevent mid-day crashes that make this season even more exhausting.

Keep nutrient-dense options on hand
When life gets full, planning meals becomes harder. Simple, ready-to-eat foods – prepped vegetables, tinned fish, boiled eggs, pre-cooked grains and chopped fruit – make nutritious choices easier when you’re rushed.

Stay hydrated
Hot weather increases fluid loss and even mild dehydration can lead to tiredness, headaches and irritability. Carry a water bottle and add citrus, mint, berries or cucumber for flavour. Coconut water, iced herbal teas and sparkling water are great alternatives. Try to limit sugary drinks, which may cause an energy spike followed by a slump.
