Bring-and-braai bash turns up the heat at Palm Lakes

A performance from Blarney & Son added to the upbeat atmosphere.

Residents and holidaymakers turned up the heat at Mamma G’s restaurant on Sunday for a festive bring-and-braai lunch that closed out the holiday season in style.

Hosted by the Palm Lakes Homeowners’ Association (HOA) and Mamma G’s, the event turned the Dragonfly Clubhouse into a hub of laughter, music and mouth-watering aromas.

Braai Master Don Zabora came fully stocked and kitted.

For just R50 per person, guests were supplied with all the salads and briquettes they could ask for, while bringing along their own meat to grill.

Entertainment was top-notch, thanks to Tony and David Fisher of the Irish party band Blarney & Son, who kept the crowd grooving with an eclectic mix of Celtic folk, South African rhythms and timeless rock and pop hits.

Between sets, Palm Lakes’ own braai masters took centre stage, expertly grilling an assortment of meats over three open drum fires.

After lunch, the dance floor came alive as Tony and David cranked up the classics, getting everyone on their feet to sing and dance off their Sunday feast.

The event was hailed as the perfect send-off to the holiday season, especially for those returning to work on Monday.
