Nominations open for Best of Ballito 2026

The competition is returning bigger and better in its fifth year.

Nominations for the 2026 North Coast Courier Best of Ballito Readers’ Choice Awards officially open today (April 1), once again inviting the community to celebrate standout businesses, services and experiences.

The ‘Best of’ Awards have grown into a widely recognised annual showcase across South Africa and Ballito’s edition is among the most eagerly anticipated. Each year, thousands of votes are cast, ensuring that the eventual winners truly reflect the favourites of local residents and visitors alike, offering a trusted insight into the best the area has to offer.

Before businesses can compete for top honours however, they first need to be nominated – a process that runs throughout April. Community members are encouraged to nominate their favourite local businesses via the official website here.

To streamline the process, most of last year’s nominees have already been included on the platform, giving you the opportunity to select them. It is important to note however, that all businesses must be nominated again this year to qualify for the 2026 awards. You can also request a new category if a suitable one is not available.

“It’s incredibly exciting to see how the Best of awards have grown not just in Ballito but nationwide,” said Courier MD Pieter Naudé.

“Local recognition now carries so much more value for businesses, as people across South Africa recognise and trust the brand as a true stamp of excellence.”

Exciting prizes are up for grabs this year, including a two-night stay and a spa treatment at Sala Beach House worth R30 690, as well as a stay and couple’s spa pamper valued at R8 980 at Canelands Beach Club and Spa, prizes from Mins Breakdown Service & Panel Beaters worth R6 000 and a comprehensive eye test with prescription glasses from Vision Works Ballito valued at R5 000.

To qualify, participants simply need to nominate their favourite businesses across at least nine categories, and opt into the competition.
