Nonhlevu Secondary School celebrated their heritage day with music, dance and culture last week.

Brightly coloured traditional costumes filled Nonhlevu Secondary School corridors when teachers and pupils held their heritage day celebrations last Friday.

The day was a spectacle of music, dance and culture as pupils put on a show that left the audience wanting more.

Girls and boys competed in Zulu dancing, Shembe dancers fused religion and tradition and poets also showcase their talent.

Acapella group, the Groutville Happy Singers also belted songs about love, life and days gone by.

“We could not celebrate Heritage Day last month because we were busy with assessments but we felt it is only right that we dedicate a day to celebrate each others diverse cultures,” said teacher Phakamile Dube.

Nonhlevu principal, Mzwandile Sithole echoed Dube’s sentiments and said they were proud to have “such talented pupils” in their school.
