Rotary empowers youth

Two Tongaat Protec pupils attended Port Shepstone Rotary’s 50th youth leadership course.

Two very excited Protec Tongaat grade 11 pupils, Kayin Naidoo and Nozipho Mzobe attended Port Shepstone Rotary’s 50th youth leadership course during the school holidays.

This once in a lifetime experience was sponsored by the Ballito Rotary Club. A group of 80 talented grade 11 pupils from 45 schools throughout KZN attended the course.

Ballito Rotary president, Gill Reid, said Naidoo and Mzobe came out tops in the club’s competition where entrants had to explain why they should be chosen to go on the course.

“The programme was a week long and participants got to interact with some of the province’s top professionals and were taken to a variety of local businesses,” said Reid.

Naidoo and Mzobe could hardly contain their excitement and enthusiasm on their return.

“Amazing, awesome, life-changing, fun, inspiring and hugely motivating” were just some of the words they used to describe their experience.

I would like to thank Ballito Rotary for the phenomenal opportunity you gave us. The course was life changing and one of the best things that ever happened to me” said Mzobe.
