Our forest, our future

Colouring for the environment.

Pupils from primary schools in ward three participated in the Dolphin Coast Landfill Management (DCLM) and ukuPhakamisa colouring competition, held at the KwaDukuza Town Hall last week.
The competition’s aim was to allow pupils to express their understanding of the role of stress in the environment under the theme ‘Our Forest, Our Future’.
To enter, pupils drew a picture showing the importance of trees, recycling and soil conservation. Each school submitted their three best drawings and a panel of judges chose the winners.
Karushnee Naicker from Darnall Secondary School won the first place prize of R5 000 for herself and for her school.
Second place went to Harry Bodasing Primary pupil Sifiso Xulu, who won R3 000 for himself and for his school, while third-placed Hulsug Primary School pupil Wandile Mpanza won R2 000 for himself and his school.
