Etete’s Breakthrough Centre Academy’s tenth annual graduation and concert on Saturday, November 30.
This year’s event programme directors were two of the academy’s former pupils who are just six-years-old. They handled their job with great enthusiasm.
Before their send off to the first grade, pupils entertained the audience with their dances, sketches and recitals. A play on child abuse was presented in keeping with the theme of 16 days of non violence against women and children. The little ones spoke strongly against hurting precious lives.
The guest of honour, Titasi Bolani, provincial deputy chief education specialist for early childhood development, said she was immensely impressed with the level of participation and the talent displayed by children.
Every child was able to introduce themselves and speak about their future plans. They also showed off their impeccable reading skills.
Bolani spoke to the parents about the value of early childhood development and the vital role parents play in education. She also commended Breakthrough Centre for maintaining a standard of excellence and raising the standard for the next generation.
Centre manager Pastor Trevor Nair emphasised the role everyone can play in reshaping the destinies of their communities.
“We can transform our communities starting with one life at a time,” he said.
