Winning for their culture

Pupils walk away with the first prize for traditional dances.

Shakaskraal SA Primary School returned with victory at the cultural competition that was held at the Albert Luthuli Centre in Groutville on June 4.

The school took the first position in indlamu, ingoma (Zulu traditional dance), imfene and hubhe (Xhosa traditional dance) and Simphiwe Mhlanga won the first prize for doing the praise poem of King Zwelithini.

Deputy principal Thulile Ncube said they are so proud about the achievements and hope that they will win again next year.

“The excitement they show when it comes to their culture is amazing and the dance that they do is what they do best,” said Ncube.
