Budding musicians from seven schools around Durban had the chance to show off their talents at a battle of the bands concert held at Crawford College North Coast.
The regional music competition was a part of the school’s spring day celebrations on Friday, September 2.
The vibrant show was judged by Veranda Panda, a Durban grown musical duo who make music using machines and violins. The lucky crowd of pupils and parents had a chance to be entertained by the band’s unique brand of music.
Organised by Crawford College’s music teacher, Nina Watson, the concert aimed to bring pupils together through music.
Watson said it was important that children had the opportunity to promote their music.
“Events such as these gives pupils the perfect platform to share their music and to interact,” she said.
Crawford College North Coast rock group came third with Northwood School group second and Umlazi Com-Tech High School’s jazz band in first place. The winners won a recording session in a professional music studio.
