Trinityhouse on the sporting up

"We are extremely proud of Nsindiso Sibisi and Banele Ngwenya, both in grade 8, for being selected to the Ilembe Hockey Squad for the IPTs” - Darren de Gouviea-Smith.

Trinityhouse Palm Lakes’ prinicipal, Darren de Gouviea-Smith is particularly proud of the growth in their sport department over the past 11 months.

“Highlights for the year include hosting a number of preparatory schools in our mini-hockey, soccer and netball festivals, as well as hosting high schools in festivals on the mini Astro-Turf.

“In addition to these, we are extremely proud of Nsindiso Sibisi and Banele Ngwenya, both in grade 8, for being selected to the Ilembe Hockey Squad for the IPTs,” said De Gouviea-Smith.

He said they are also proud of the pupils who have excelled in sporting codes not currently offered by their school.

“Sasha Woodman in grade 10 recently got her KZN colours for gymnastics after receiving gold medals in the qualifiers for the South African Gymnastic Games. She represented our province at the games held recently in Cape Town.

Sasha trains for two to three hours at least three days a week, and she was able to do this while continuing to produce outstanding academic results,” said De Gouviea-Smith.
De Gouviea-Smith is also thrilled about their recent appointment of a new sports coordinator for 2017, Bronwyn Leeming, who is currently at St Mary’s Diocesan School for Girls and will be joining the school in January.
“Bronwyn, is currently a provincial softball player and coaches both the U17A and U18A KZN girls teams. She has also represented her province in a number of other sporting codes and her wealth of coaching experience gained from both preparatory and high schools, will help to continue to drive our sport forward in the next couple of years.”
