Realising that young people’s career choices are largely influenced by money and pressure from family and friends, Brainwave Careers set out to encourage Shakaskraal pupils to forge their own path.
Brainwave Careers, a Johannesburg based company visited Shakaskraal Secondary school last Wednesday to introduce to them their new app, Discover your Career, designed as an easy to use mobile application that helps pupils choose a career path based on their interests, personality and thinking style.
The app is R250 and compatible with all phones and pcs. It also provides information on study options and funding opportunities.
Speaking to the pupils, Brainwave Career representative Tyrol Venturinis advised the matrics not to focus only on money when choosing a career.
“Everyone wants to be a lawyer and doctor but why?
Do not pursue a career for the money.
You may earn a nice, fat salary but you will be miserable.
Money cannot buy you happiness.
It makes your life a whole lot easier but it cannot fulfil you.
Local businessmen and woman joined the launch at the school, as they believed the app will empower the children in developing successful future careers.
