Emergency services recently visited Isnembe Secondary School in Upper Tongaat to teach the children basic safety.
There was huge excitement throughout the school when they heard the sirens as police vehicles, an ambulance and fire engine arrived.
Pupils were taught what to do when there is a fire in their homes and when to call for police or an ambulance.
The school thanked Umhlali SAPS warrant officer Shaleen Ramlakan who organised the awareness talk and demonstrations.
Ramlakan said they wanted to gift the school with the safety day because the school was turning 90 this year.
“I was impressed with the school achieving 90 years of excellence. Good luck and we hope for another 90 years of excellence for the school,” said Ramlakan.
