Ashton Ballito pupils’ bag 65 A+ and A symbols in IGCSE class results
IGCSEs are typically written by Cambridge students aged 14-16.
Ashton International College Ballito is thrilled to announce the exceptional IGCSE results achieved by their students in 2024.
The IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education) is an internationally recognised qualification designed for students typically aged 14 to 16 and is typically written by Cambridge students upon completion of Grade 10. It is equivalent to GCSEs in the UK but is more globally focused, often offered by schools around the world.
The IGCSE provides a broad and balanced curriculum with a variety of subjects to choose from, including languages, sciences, humanities, and arts. This serves as a solid foundation for further education, such as A-Levels, which are often prerequisites for university admission and students may even be able to use their IGCSE marks as part of their final National Senior Certificate (NSC) Matric Certificate.
The results reflect the dedication of both the students and teaching staff, cementing Ashton as a leading institution in academic excellence.
Senior College Head, Belinda Boucher, heaped praise on the class.
“Ashton’s students have once again demonstrated outstanding academic performance, with many achieving top grades across a range of subjects,” she said.
Across all of the exams written, 59.5% of students received an A or better. Notably, Emma Jordaan achieved straight A+ grades, further underscoring the high standards set by both the students and the school.
The subjects that received only A and B symbols were accounting, computer science, history and music. An incredible 92.16% of the students achieved only A+ to C symbols.
“Ashton has a longstanding tradition of producing excellent results, and this year’s performance continues to uphold that legacy,” said Boucher.
Ashton International College Ballito congratulates the 2024 IGCSE students on their outstanding achievements and looks forward to supporting them as they embark on the next chapter of their academic journeys.
