Curro Salt Rock netball teams impress at St Dunstan’s festival

The senior first team won six games against some of the best schools in the country in Johannesburg.

Curro Salt Rock High School’s girls first netball team won six of 13 matches in the St Dunstan’s College Easter Festival.

The school’s netball, and boys’ and girls’ hockey teams travelled to Johannesburg to take part in the four-day annual sports festival over the Easter weekend (April 17-21). Rugby, hockey and netball teams from around the country and Zimbabwe competed for honours in Gauteng.

“It was a weekend filled with top-tier sport, unforgettable experiences and moments that built friendships, teams and character. The netball girls showed unity and determination in every match and we celebrate them,” said Curro spokesperson, Cindy Carbutt.

Curro’s boys’ and girls’ hockey teams gained valuable experience against some of the top hockey schools in southern Africa.

The hockey teams had a difficult time against some tough opposition, but gained valuable experience that will stand them in good stead for the upcoming domestic season.

“Both our boys’ and girls’ teams put in brilliant performances across a demanding fixture list,” said Carbutt.

The North Coast school also made Easter a little brighter for underprivileged children in Johannesburg, dropping off Easter eggs at Colin House Child Welfare Centre in Benoni, before having some fun at the zoo during some much-needed downtime.

“Beyond the courts and fields, the teams also shared a heart-warming outreach moment that reminded us of the importance of giving back.”
