Elsewhere last week, Curro’s junior soccer teams put on a solid performance at the Ashton International College Ballito Football Festival on Friday.

The first team unfortunately conceded three narrow one-goal losses but performed well and earned a win in their last group game.

The U11s fared better, winning one and drawing two of their four games.

The U11s performed well at the Ashton tournament, only losing once.

Curro primary school head of sport, Phelelani Mtembu, was proud of the boys’ efforts.

“The boys performed and left everything on the field. The boys showed real grit, consistency, and resilience,” he said.

Reddam House Umhlanga won the U13 and U11 tournament, while Reddam House Ballito took the U10 honours.

Despite three close losses, the U13 boys were in high spirits at Ashton.

Netball fixtures at Crawford La Lucia

Curro’s high school Netball teams were also in action on Friday, facing off against Crawford La Lucia away.

The 1st team continued a fantastic season with a 26-11 win, while the remaining three “A” teams grabbed one win, one draw and a loss.

The netball team followed recent wins against Gelofte and Hoërskool Suid-Natal with a comfortable victory over Crawford La Lucia.

There was a special moment earlier in the week for four first team players – Yolanda Khanyile, Megan du Plessis, Jorgia-Lee Thomas and Zuleika de Lange – who were all awarded plaques after achieving their 50th first team cap against Hoërskool Suid-Natal.

School spokesperson, Cindy Carbutt, said the school is proud of the athletes.

“This incredible achievement is a testament to their dedication, consistency, and passion for the sport,” she said.

“Thank you for your unwavering commitment and for representing Curro Salt Rock with such pride and excellence.”
