I would like to warn drivers in the Ballito area regarding cloning of petrol cards.
When filling up in Ballito, or anywhere else for that matter, I normally accompany the petrol attendant when he or she is swiping my card but on two occasions about two weeks ago I made the mistake of handing him the card while I went into the shop.
To cut a long story short, R4 400 of petrol or other goods were purchased in one week from the following petrol stations: Dukuza Service Station, Best Wheel and Tyre which I think is in Durban, Killarney Toyota Stanger and Mandini Service Station.
I was visiting Cape Town that week and had received a few wrong transactions from my bank while there (wrong credit card numbers) so didn’t pay too much attention to the sms’s.
If I ever have occasion to purchase petrol from outside Ballito it is usually in Port Shepstone or Pietermaritzburg. But I haven’t purchased there for at least two months.
I cannot say categorically the cloning took place in Ballito, but the places where it was used certainly point to that being the case.
