I hope everyone will enjoy this story as much as I enjoy their weekly stories.
My black cat called “Bok” always wakes me up if he catches something during the night, which is usually a mouse (at least this only happens once a month) as he sleeps next to me on my bed on his special blanket. As soon as he catches it, he comes upstairs to my bedroom and calls me until I switch on the light and compliment him for being such a good boy!
However, this morning at around 4.30am he again came upstairs and had more of a soft cry, not the usual loud call. At first I just ignored him ‘cos I thought it’s just another one of his “cat and mouse” games, but he wouldn’t stop, so eventually I decided to switch on the light to just give him his moment and get it over and done with.
I nearly died when I saw a snake instead of a mouse! I tried to catch it and just didn’t really know what to do. I then waited for Bok to kill it but he kept playing with it until he was tired and I thought it must be dead by now.
Obviously the snake just pretended to be dead to protect himself, as it struck at me when I tried to pick it up and put it into a plastic bag!
I was sweating by now and called the Snake Catcher (Neville) but unfortunately he was too far away and referred me to David instead, who immediately responded to my call and came to my rescue in less than five minutes!
Bok, of course, now thinks he is really the local hero, meanwhile back at the ranch, he nearly killed me. I can only laugh about it now, obviously give myself a huge pat on my shoulder for my little act of bravery, but it was really very traumatic for me!
Thank you God for answering my prayers by not letting me die of a heart attack which was very close.
I just want to say a very big special thank you to Neville and Dave – you saved my life, I’m sure you will laugh about it, but I was terrified and really appreciate your help especially during the early hours of the morning. Both your numbers are now saved on my cell phone.
