A fridge repair person who does business in the Ballito area repaired my neighbour’s fridge and charged R1350 to replace a compressor flash system, pipes, new dryer plus to regas.
The invoice stated that there was one year’s guarantee. However after a very short time the fridge packed up again. He came out and did something else but after just a few days it once again packed up. This went on until the fourth time, he took the fridge away and left one of his old ones which also packed up after just a week.
After many phone calls which he did not bother to answer, an SMS was sent to him to return her fridge and the money. To date nothing has been done and he has not made any attempt to pay the money back or return the fridge!
It is sad that the owner of this fridge is 87 years old and even very kindly agreed to have the money paid back gradually, however we have heard nothing. Please be wary of who you call to fix your fridge or else you might find yourself out of pocket plus losing your fridge!
