Pledges to help have evaporated

Our story is one of varying levels of disappointment, borne of our efforts to repair our old kombi that used to be a familiar sight at the Lifestyle centre on Tuesdays as our residents enjoy the specials offered by Lifestyle Spar and the welcome free cup of tea at their restaurant.
After trying for almost four months our kombi has been repaired under the impression that a number of persons have pledged to contribute to the repairs, in varying amounts. This has not materialized. A Durban business man promised to donate R7500 toward the repair, and a number of charity organizations have showed good intentions, but nothing has materialized yet.
We are beholden to Dick and Eileen Becker who have selflessly assisted us in transporting our residents to Ballito with their own vehicle while we pursue our objective to regain our independence and our dignity.
