Week after week, in December and January we watched the pristine beach going from something quite extraordinary and beautiful to a rubbish dump. Yet, every morning, almost before the first beach goers arrived the litter in an around the tidal pool had been cleared away and a mountain of rubbish bags had again been filled.
The cleaners need to be commended for their tireless efforts and the fantastic service they deliver. Ballito’s coastline cannot accommodate the thousands of litter throwing beach goers that flood the tidal pool area for New Year and the holiday period thereafter!
We would also like to congratulate the patrons and organisers of the Old Year’s Eve Party for the efficient cleaning of the party area before the sun came up in 2014!
We sincerely hope Ballito finds a solution to slow down the permanent damage caused by the lawless litterbugs around the tidal pool.
The cleaners are doing all they can but unfortunately that may not be enough to keep Ballito’s reputation as the place to be over the New Year period. Many economy-boosting holiday makers will not be back.
