It is take away time in this week’s restaurant review!
Some people may wonder why I do reviews on take-aways and the answer is simple – if a place serves food then it deserves a review.
Wangs and Thangs is located at Tiffany’s Centre in Salt Rock.
The owners are from the USA so they have brought their American flavours to the North Coast. They offer a wide range of chicken wings plus ribs, burgers and a couple of other American classics like corn bread and corn dogs.
I decided to have a full selection of their wings, which included buffalo, BBQ, cajun, jerk and country fried.
The wings were all cooked well and very tender. My only complaint is that it was difficult to differentiate too well between them – I could not really pick out the specific style. My favourite was the cajun wings which have a distinctive darker flavour and colour.
There are certainly some unique flavour profiles that I have encountered before, which is a nice change from the normal chicken take away we find on the North Coast. I also sampled a corn dog and some corn bread, though I was not completely blown away. I did find the corn dog slightly oily but that is American food for you.
The food is well-priced so it will not cost you and arm and a leg to feed your family.
If you have ever wonder edabout American food give Wangs and Thangs a try.
