My father always taught me that the qualities of a good sportsman were to be a good loser and equally a good winner. Ward 22 by-election has come and gone, and I wish to congratulate Malcolm Hubner and the DA for winning the election.
I wish Malcolm the best of luck in carrying out his mandate on behalf of the community. It was pleasing to note the political tolerance and maturity displayed as part of the rainbow nation and our democracy.
I extend my thanks and appreciation for all the support and the encouragement that I have received from the ANC leadership, volunteers, family, friends and members of the community, particularly the residents of Shakaskraal and Nkogongo.
I am disappointed that I did not have receive a mandate and will therefore will not be able to represent you at the ANC Legkotla where I was specifically tasked to talk about the land issues.
However, I shall continue my engagement and consultation with members of the ANC. I embrace Premier Senso Mchunu’s state of the nation address of a prosperous province with a healthy, secure and skilled people, acting as a future gateway to Africa and the world.
I am humbled and encouraged by the support and the confidence that the ANC have displayed in me, and I have accordingly been nominated to serve on the regional sub-committee representing economic development and transformation.
