On the evening of July 31 our family decided to pop in to one of our favourite eating houses, John Dory’s at Lifestyle Centre, Ballito. After ordering our drinks we comfortably contemplated another mellow, food-infused evening, or so we thought.
I found on a few occasions that diabetes milletus and distraction can be a potent combination. I had no sooner stuck that little needle into my tummy when my world started to reel. I had inadvertently administered a sizeable dose of insulin to a body whose glucose levels were already low. My darling daughters then sprang into action, calling the management’s attention to the plight of their stricken father.
Brandon (bless his soul) of John Dory’s made the call to Netcare from his personal cellphone and the guys in their reflective suits were on the scene in no time at all. Colin and Isaac of Netcare, please take a bow! You were absolutely professional and courteous, performing up to an ECG in limited time and less than ideal conditions.
In conclusion, of course I will be going back to John Dory’s and of course I will call Netcare in case of a medical emergency (God forbid). There are folks (like these) who are prepared to show their care in tangible ways and help us to feel a little safer in a country where human life is at a premium.
