Thava is not a new concept, as it is currently the third in the franchise – the other two are in Johannesburg.
One thing I love about The Boathouse is that you can dine practically on the beach. Something we should do whenever we can, since we live at the seaside.
Our waiter was brilliant and made some great suggestions; he knew his menu, which is the hallmark of a good waiter.
I love change when it comes to food. I think we get so accustomed to certain flavour profiles that we forget what else is available.
In the last year, the style of North Indian cuisine has changed and this has opened my mind to a whole new spectrum of flavours.
For starters we had sesame crumbed prawns and the onion bhajia. The prawns were absolutely stunning; not what I was expecting but definitely a winner. I battled to decide on a main course so I went with the waiter’s suggestion of the lamb rogan josh. This was a good choice and I would definately choose it again. The lamb was tender enough to eat with a spoon! I also sampled the chicken malai tikka. I have never had chicken so tender – it melted in my mouth and the yoghurt added a fabulous richness.
A genuinely good meal – try Thava out if you want to have something different.
