Don’t encourage the beggars . . .

With more robots coming up in Ballito, we will no doubt be plagued by more beggars. Personally I don’t ever give money to beggars. I believe that it only encourages them to beg more. On numerous occasions I use the line, “I can offer you a job”, and you see how quickly they rush off …

With more robots coming up in Ballito, we will no doubt be plagued by more beggars.
Personally I don’t ever give money to beggars. I believe that it only encourages them to beg more.
On numerous occasions I use the line, “I can offer you a job”, and you see how quickly they rush off to the next car. That line works better than cursing or swearing. They only want money for booze. Look out for them in the evenings when their shift is over at the robot, they stagger around not knowing what day of the week it is, so please don’t support this growing problem.
Rather donate food or clothing to the local charity organisations, I know that there are organisations like the St. Vincent De Paul Society, who feed the hungry and destitute. If these beggars want to be fed, they must stand in the queue like those who are genuinely hungry and need food, and not money for alcohol or cigarettes.
