Mr Farouk’s plea for the people of Gaza is sincere, and I’m sure most of the folks reading this article would agree with you (Praying for peace in Palestine, Courier, September 5). Peace, however, comes at a price. One that Israel and the people of Gaza are paying for dearly.
It’s time that the real matters at hand are afforded some airplay – regardless of how uncomfortable it may make you and I feel, because dodging the truth is costing the lives of both Palestinians and Israelis throughout our bigoted opinions and gullible acceptance of televised news.
History reveals the hard, uncomfortable truth. One side wants the other dead.
The primary motto of Hamas is “We love death, as much as the Jews love life.” Israel is dealing with a community of radical Islamists whose sole desire is to extinguish the existence of the Jewish race. Israel has repeatedly offered Palestine its land back (early 50s and 2000), stating “here’s your land, please stop shooting at us”. Palestine, politically influenced by Hamas, refused, stating never to cease violence against Israel, as the destruction of Zionism is the responsibility of every Muslim.
So ask yourself one question, Mr Farouk – and indeed, anyone reading this. We want peace, right?
What if Israel laid down their arms tomorrow and declared, “we will fight no more”?And what if Palestine laid down their arms tomorrow, and declared, “we will fight no more”?
In the first scenario, you would have the immediate destruction of Israel and bloody massacre of every Jewish individual alive.
In the second, you would have peace the very next day.
The truth may be hard to swallow, sir. But why is the Islamic population so silent about this? If the peaceful bulk of the Muslim population claim to divorce themselves from extremist Islam terrorism, why are they not denouncing the actions of a terrorist group flying the flag of Islam? It seems even the Islamic population themselves live in fear of the people that claim their very name.
Whilst the Islamic population in Israel remain the most free and democratic Muslims in the world, here we are as a hypocritical democratic nation called South Africa, subtly and ignorantly supporting the slow crumbling of the people of the Middle East, because people like you and I, Mr Farouk, are probably too lazy to discover the offensive, upsetting and inconvenient truth about the history of this religious imposition.
