On Monday morning at 7:10am as I turned into Lee Barns Boulevard heading to the office, I noticed two ladies in distress on the side of the road outside Shortens, two girls trying to attend to one lying on the bank.
A small crowd had formed and it seemed the lady on the ground was perhaps having a fit, and the other lady believed she was suffering a mild stroke. Trying to dial for an ambulance, the lady suggested I call her boss. She spoke to her and had asked one of the vehicles come and fetch them and take them home.
We stood there for a short while – while many people just passed on by. A really nice gentleman (Dean) then stopped, asking if I needed help and came to assist me. On more conversation with the ladies, I realised who they worked for, knowing the couple well, their business being in the same office park as my offices – and recalled for help. At the same time, Dean who had stopped to assist me took a drive to the office park to find a staff member of theirs to bring a vehicle. During this time a young lady also stopped and walked up to offer her help as well as my cousin!
In no time at all, vehicles arrived, the men then assisted in putting the one lady in the vehicle, while Dean was kind enough to take the other and off they headed for Ballito clinic.
The gratitude of Simone’s domestic worker was amazing. She could not thank us enough and wished God’s blessing on us all. In return I pray both heal well.
Not a great way for the two ladies to start off the week, but a great start to see just how compassionate, unselfish and helpful strangers can be.
Thank you Dean for stopping to help me, and to the others who all offered. Kindness goes a very long way!
