Support for hospital

Tongaat civic association supports Victoria Mediclinic in its quest to improve health services for the residents of Tongaat and surrounding areas.
We want to place on record our thanks for the positive meeting Tongaat Civic Association facilitated with Mediclinic Hospital manager Jenny Meer and Director Dr S Govender to resolve some issues affecting the residents of Tongova mews. There will be a follow up meeting to discuss other community- benefit related issues shortly.
We like to notify the public that they will soon have a day hospital alongside Victoria mediclinic/Hospital.
This facility will bring great relief to some private patients as well as most medical aid patients by doing away with an overnight bed cost. We were given to understand that five theatres will be available with a section capable of dealing with neurological/accident serious cases here in Tongaat whereas before they had to be sent to Durban. The day hospital will also have a MRI machine installed.
Yes we agree that inconvenience may be experienced by some but it is a short term sacrifice one has to make for the greater good of many others. Victoria hospital has come a long way from its previous badge of distrust to one of trust. Mediclinic has used its experience and resources to ensure that high standards are maintained consistently.
We hope that the new day hospital construction process is passed by municipality as fast as possible, when all requirements are met, so that construction can start and finish as quick as possible for normality to return to Gandhinagar.
