The Ballito Cancer Support Network has spent the past four years placing the focus on the impact that cancer has on sufferers but also on the enormity of the price paid by the families of cancer patients.
In our efforts to ease the suffering of cancer victims we have tried to highlight the trauma caused to family and friends. In response we have seen the Ballito community stand up and take up the challenge with us. Galvanising support of friends and neighbours of families struck by adversity, Ballito is filled with heroes. Ballito is rich in compassionate people who give of their time, invest their effort to unite in opposition to pain and affliction.
We see the inhumanity of this disease every day and the Dolphin Coast community has funded and underwritten us. BCSN and the people we assist salute our sponsors and thank Ballito for their compassion and willingness to participate.
Thank you to all the participants and BMW Ballito Autohaus for their continued sponsorship of our annual Cancer Walk. Sadly the weather was not with us but about 100 people participated in the walk. In memory of James Leask who lost his fight to cancer this year his best friends flew in from Zambia to join our walk
I was accompanied by brother and sister Terri (aged 7) and Troy (5).These children lost their mother (39) to cancer last week.
In collaboration with Debbie Nicolson and Beaches primary school we have initiated a fund to assist with the cost of their care/education. We would welcome further fund raising inititives for them.
