We hear much about the very real triple challenges of poverty, unemployment and inequality in South Africa. These can be hugely ameliorated by improved growth in our economy as a country.
However, the lack of water, power and road access caused by bad planning and inefficiency is really hurting our tourism market. Remember the promise of sufficient power by 2013 when Medupi was due to come on stream? Remember the talk of a desalination plant at Blythedale and raising the Hazelmere wall to keep the water in our taps? What happened?
The ANC gets an epic “fail” at providing the most basic services – water, electricity and decent roads. Personal enrichment, the ability to lie, deny and lie again seems to be the way tings are going in this once moral movement! How sad to commemorate the first anniversary of Nelson Mandela’s death in this situation!
Finally, hope –  the Dolphin Coast will overcome, and with a smile!
