Perhaps it is time we started our very own ‘Local Heroes’ nominations.  If we did, the Conservancy would have no hesitation in nominating Quentin Power for the title!
Over the past few days he has interrupted whatever he was doing, whether it was business or family leisure time, and twice rushed to assist in protecting wildlife which was in danger from a busy road or else trapped in a place where there was no food or water. Unfortunately there are very few people who are prepared to give up their time for no reward and act simply for the good of the community, whether that means human or animal population.
Quentin is also responsible for training the local ‘Nippers’, which means we now have generations of young people who are trained to tackle our rather dangerous swimming conditions and behave responsibly on our beaches and perhaps, in their turn, save lives one day. Tanker run aground? – Quentin is there to help; Bushbuck running around on the beach? – send out the message and he arrives to help.  Emergency Services need assistance with an accident? – I think you get the picture!
On behalf of the Community, Quentin, a big thank you – and also to your family for the time you spend away from them to help with community service.
