Three weeks ago we got a call from an old lady residing in the RA Moodley Home for the Aged, who informed us that she could hear a small kitten calling.
I followed the sound and found a very small abandoned kitten alone, at the entrance to the community hall, sitting beside an upturned cardboard box. Nearby I found an even smaller “dumped” kitten sitting very quietly in a dark corner. It appeared to me that this little creature had given up hope as he did not call out nor move at all unlike the other one, who by her calling saved both of them.
I took them home and phoned the SPCA in Ballito. My wife spoke to a person by the name of Nathi. Nathi gave her some advice as how to feed them and he arrived at our cottage the following day to view the kittens. He said they were 10 to 12 days old, too small for the SPCA to take them in as they needed 24 hour attention. Dennis, also from the SPCA, called at the old age home and brought some kitten pellets. Our grateful thanks to the SPCA and especially to Nathi and Dennis for their response and advice. There are still some good people around amidst the cruelty to animals that prevails.
My wife and I fed the kittens milk with an eye dropper for two weeks. By the grace of God they survived and started eating softened solid kitten pellets mixed with some small soft chicken portions in gravy. Three days ago they started lapping milk and eating from a saucer. We also trained them to use a “sand box” for their needs.
Sadly, we are not able to keep these kittens. Should our two kittens run away, my wife and I will be unable to catch them as we are in our seventies and not up to the speed of kittens.
They both need a safe and loving home, where they will be together forever being loved and pampered for life.
We pray that a loving and caring family will adopt both of them, so that they can live the rest of their lives together.
The larger one looks exactly like the kitten’s face as it appears on the “Whiskas Kitten” sachet. A very beautiful little creature. The smaller kitten has an incredibly cute face, grey on top with beautiful white markings on its front toes.
If anyone is interested and can adopt both kittens, please call me on 076 210 5090, or my wife on 076 966 5175.
