I cannot believe that the KZN Roads Agency refuse to let the Fire Brigade, on an emergency call, through a toll gate . . . because they do not have any change! Has the world gone mad?
So, on this basis, neither can an ambulance or paramedic vehicle on its way to an accident scene pass through either! And then to force the vehicle and its crew to turn around and take the longer way round . . . whilst someone’s home is burning to the ground! So burning properties, serious road accidents, badly injured people etc. are now at the mercy of provincial madness. Strange isn’t it, I am sure that on many occasions I have followed police vehicles on routine patrol through the toll plaza. Do they pay, I wonder?
Peter and Sheila Watson, you have the sympathy of thousands of ‘baffled and angry’ locals on your unfortunate and disastrous experience in losing your home to fire – all in the name of bureaucracy!
