I still kiss your photo each evening . . .

On February 19, 2015, it was six years since you passed away – although to me, it’s more like 60 years. When I visited you in hospital on February 19, 2009, you never told me you were leaving, you never even said goodbye. You were only determined to tell me you loved me. I kissed your ice-cold lips and said: “I love you too.”
A million times I needed you, and only God knows how many tears I’ve shed. The place you held in my heart, no-one can ever fill. If love alone could have saved you, you would never have died. In life, I loved you dearly – in death, I love you still, and always will. It broke my heart to lose you, but you never went alone – a part of me went with you, when He took you to His home. I still kiss your photo each evening and morning, and countless times during the day, and pretend I can feel you holding me tight.
On the wings of death, the soul takes flight into a land where there is no night. Life is forever, death is a dream – if we never slept at night, we would not awaken to see the light. Death is a time of sleeping, those who die are in God’s keeping. Life and NOT death is God’s promised goal, so we should trust Him and doubt Him never, for only through death can man live forever. Our thankful prayers should rise to God above, because He really cares.
Our relatives and friends who have gone before us, will be waiting patiently to open the door. I know for sure, my darling, you will be waiting at the gate to take my hand to God’s home and we will never be parted again.
I want to thank my family and friends, especially Fr Nkosinathi and Fr Michael who are always there for me, and for their prayers and advice, without which I would never cope.
The one you love dearly, can never be replaced.
