I am petrified that there are plans to replace shark nets with baited hooks (Drumlines long overdue, says Shark Board, Courier, March 13).
Bait attracts sharks. The attacks in False Bay are attributed directly to the baiting of sharks. Queensland is not a very good reference for baited hooks as many Aussies are eaten by sharks. I hear that David Warner and Mitchell Starc have been banned from swimming until after the world cup. Man remains head of the food chain – let us protect ourselves and swim in peace along about five percent of our coast line. Please keep the nets.
