Through the medium of this paper I would like to express my deep thanks to the Ballito community for their support and love during my dad’s battle with cancer and for the help when he passed away on Easter Sunday.

Firstly, a huge thanks to the Specialised Rescue Unit, who went beyond the call of duty to help my mom while we raced home from a family wedding in the Midlands, the morning before he died. Quentin Power and Brett Moran stayed with my mom and comforted her until we got back and they returned later that night when my dad passed away. Their compassion, comfort and help will never be forgotten.

To the Netcare 911 paramedics who assisted- Colin, Issac and Peter – a huge thank you.

To Jaime Ernst from the Ballito Cancer Support Network for arranging a wheelchair for us to use for all his chemo trips and the occasional visits to the promenade as well as for her advice and support.

To the maintenance team at our complex who built a ramp so that it was easier to get Dad in and out of the house.

To the Dolphin Coast Hospice who arranged a hospital bed for us and a special air mattress. As well as for their love and assistance.

To our pastors Mark and Debbie Rogers for all their assistance, and the support and help from the Church Alive family over the last eight months.

To Paul, Bronwyn and Sarah from 3@1 for the beautiful memorial leaflets.

And lastly, to our wonderful circle of friends in this beautiful town who have prayed with us, cried with us, visited my dad, cooked meals and offered help in so many ways.

Words are not enough to express our gratitude. We are truly blessed to be part of this community.

MICHELLE HOLDSWORTH
