A few months ago there was a gathering of about 50 people where the “sinkhole” in Colwyn Drive now is.
They all looked very intelligent but not really interested. I was told they were all members of the municipality and contractors. It was to award the construction of a storm water drain running under Sheffield Drive.
Work commenced a while later and then finished, leaving that part of the road only patched up with sand etc.
Oh, and looking into the 4x4m deep hole with the beach buggy in it I could not see any sign of a storm water drain. It was only two or three weeks ago that that section was tarred. And we all thought: “Well done.” The road was perfectly all right before the work started.
The questions are:
1. Who was awarded the contract?
2. At what cost?
3. What is the damage in money terms?
4. Who is responsible for insurance of the accident that occurred.
5. How long will it take to do a proper job of it?
