While I didn’t read all the posts after being upset by the post from Eugene Naidoo, more were in the same vein. (He said that 99% of black people lacked the intellect to realise they were being used as pawns by unscrupulous politicians and that they would suffer worst when whites, Indians and other ‘foreigners’ were forced to leave the country).
Firstly that is a racist remark. Everyone has a right to choose which party to vote for. D.e.m.o.c.r.a.c.y . . . is this ringing any bells?
The fact that you do not agree is your right, but please accept people’s right to choose and respect this, even if you do not agree with it. I am not saying that you do not have a right to speak out (which you do anyway), but how about some human courtesy and respect? Suggesting people are idiots definitely doesn’t help! We always complain we want change, why don’t we start being the change, by changing our attitudes?
Not everyone has their basic needs met – water, food, housing etc. The EFF promised them this. These are not people who have a good life and are being greedy, but people who are struggling every day and are without hope. One of the reasons black people continue to vote for a black government is because there are people out there who make such remarks. People remember Apartheid and racism very well and experience it today.
The stunt the EFF pulled was ridiculous. The ANC thinks so as well. But instead of using this platform to show this, you use it to collectively put down the black people! I’m really not sure who is more stupid – the EFF or you – who expect the majority of South Africans you constantly ridicule and disrespect to vote for your choice of government.
Not all black people are poor, and surprise, surprise, not all non-black (Indians, whites, coloured etc) are rich. You just need to drive through Ballito to see this. So I don’t think you’d all make it out, nor do I believe we’d die or cease to exist.
What this country needs is people who will stand by it and pray for the leadership – whether it is that they catch a wake up or that proper leadership is put/voted into place. There are many of us who love our communities and our country, and I for one am sick and tired of people who complain and make racist remarks. If you think it is so much better in another country, why don’t you just go?
