New roadworks greatly enhance Ballito

The roadworks around the Ballito shopping complexes are now nearing completion, and street lighting is being installed.

This greatly enhances Ballito and all those responsible for the planning and construction of the roadway, including all the workers who did the actual work, must be complimented on this stunning improvement which will see traffic flows vastly improved.

I have one criticism – the first traffic light as you enter Ballito coming east on Ballito Drive (at the Destiny Life intersection) hinders the flow of traffic. The dwell on these lights should be adjusted to only minimal stoppage of traffic on Ballito Drive. Traffic queues up here and sits for ages when there is virtually no traffic coming from the roads on either side.

It also occured to me that the taxi rank, which is the only eyesore now in this area, should be moved to the car park behind Ballito Bay Mall. This area is considerably larger than the present taxi rank and would be ideal as it is totally out of sight and still very convenient for taxi commuters.

The broken-down concrete structure at the car park could be revamped to create waiting rooms or stalls for vendors. Presently there are never more than a dozen or so cars parking there.
