Clearly, B R Charsley of Umhlali Country Club has not experienced the total congestion on Simbithi Drive during holiday periods, when residents struggle to get in and out of the estates because of the sheer volume of traffic (New roadworks greatly enhance Ballito, Letters, May 1).
The congestion is bad enough without having masses of taxis parking, collecting and dropping off their passengers.
It is obvious to all that something has to be done about relocating the “temporary” taxi city to a suitable permanent site with appropriate facilities, toilets, hawkers stalls etc. The question is why is our council – and indeed our councillors – not being more proactive in moving this along?
Perhaps they should use the vast empty car park at Builders Express as a location it is, after all, closer to the railway station.
