Other readers have already expressed their concern regarding the dangerous wash-away at the corner of Sheffield Drive and Sheffield Beach Road. If I recall correctly, these concerns and views were expressed several weeks ago.
The question remains: When will the ‘powers that be’, who are in charge of this aspect, arrive at some motivation to consider taking remedial action to repair this rather busy corner?
Despite their feeble efforts in trying to ‘re-direct traffic’ with a couple of poles loosely propped up on either side of the problem, certain members of the public have seen fit to remove the booms on the south side, and drive around the booms on the north side and so get through the “blocked off area” intended to avoid the potentially dangerous donga, without a problem.
* Why are we not seeing any action in this regard?
* Budget constraints?
* Labour constraints?
* What time frame are we looking at ?
If it is a long term problem, then at least arrange some decent heavy duty concrete balustrades right across the area to avoid people forcing their way through notwithstanding that are doing it at their own risk.
This is a vital part of the area’s infrastructure, a busy residential road and intersection, with more and more local people travelling to and from their places of work, not to mention the holidaymakers who get the wrong impression, and the KwaDukuza government are failing us in not getting it speedily repaired.
