There is still no hope of employment for 53 young people who did water reticulation service training in 2013 at Umfolozi College in Groutville.

These young people are from different wards around the Ilembe District. They spent about a year on a training programme that they did not even get certificates for. No word from Ilembe which according to these youth initiated the training through Umfolozi College.

This has been an ongoing trend around Ilembe District for young people to be trained and left with no certificates and no jobs.

Yet Ilembe prides itself of these youth development projects. How can people be trained and left with no documents and jobs is beyond understanding. This calls for an investigation as to what is really happening with such training projects.

These projects need to be carefully monitored by those who facilitate them. Instead of improving young people’s lives, Ilembe is slowly destroying all hope for our youth.
