Why not supplement from Inanda?

While the North Coast is certainly experiencing one of its worst droughts in recent history, other areas – as close as 40kms away – are not victims of the same problem. While Hazelmere Dam is 28% full, Inanda Dam – a mere 40 kms away – is 93% full.

Presumably the experts – if there are such people – would be considering feeding Hazelmere from Inanda Dam in times of crisis? But I might be giving these so-called planners more credit than they deserve.

May I suggest that those who are tasked with approving the rapid expansion of Ballito and its environs are happy to do so, given the revenue it will feed into the municipal coffers, without any consideration for the infrastructure that is required.

Leadership both at council level and national level is sorely lacking – and has been for 20 years. It’s about time somebody takes charge.
